Genesis 14-15

“Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward” (15:1). As Abram grew strong and the people in his camp multiplied (14:14), he also faced a weakness that no human power could overcome: “I remain childless” (15:2). This desperate need drove Abram to continue to depend on God rather than himself or his increasing riches (15:2). He received God’s spectacular promise of descendants as numerous as the stars (15:4), and he trusted God: “Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness” (15:6).

“Look up at the sky and count the stars” (15:5). The God who made the stars sees us and knows our names. He wants us to live by faith in His amazing, limitless power and grace
