John 6-7
/“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever” (6:51). Jesus’ followers loved his multiplication of bread and were fascinated by him walking on the water, but they were disturbed by his claim to have come from heaven (6:41-42). They wanted the blessings of the great prophet Jesus, but if he was God’s Son in their midst, then they would have to submit to him as King. His humanity meant he would not be a distant Lord, but one who walked among them.
When we open our hearts and lives to welcome Jesus as King, we receive everything: salvation, abundant “bread of life,” and “rivers of living water” (7:38).
