Psalm 104-105
/“All creatures look to you to give them their food at the proper time” (104:27). As humans we are part of the whole creation, utterly dependent on God for every breath. Our Creator “set the earth on its foundations” (104:5) and he is the source of life for the wild donkeys, the storks, the cattle and the mountain goats (104:11-18). “The trees of the Lord are well-watered” (16), and even the lions “seek their food from God” (104:21). Humans are part of this created order, not self-sufficient, but recipients of life and grace.
As Israel’s story demonstrates (Psalm 105), the Creator meets us in our troubles. He wants to give us “bread from heaven” and rivers of water in the desert (105:41).
