Mark 13

“Jesus said to them: ‘Watch out that no one deceives you’” (5). Jesus warned the disciples that there would be many false Messiahs and many people seeking to manipulate them by claiming knowledge about the Day of the Lord (22). Jesus told them not to fear or obsess about what might come, but to be ready to act as his followers. If they were arrested for witnessing to the gospel, rather than fighting back, they should simply trust the Holy Spirit to guide their words (10-11).

Jesus said that we wait for his return by each doing our “assigned task” faithfully (34). When “the owner of the house” returns, we will be ready to welcome him.
