II Kings 4-7

“How can I set this before a hundred men?” (4:43). Like the New Testament disciples, the man who brought an offering of bread to Elisha knew it wasn’t enough for all the people. But because it was given to God, Elisha believed they would eat and have some left over, like the widow whose oil-filled jars had enough to pay her debts and more to live on (4:7). Even Naaman, commander of the Aramean army, found the God of Abraham to be more faithful than he had dreamed (ch 5).

“They ate and had some leftover” (4:44). We worry about having enough for ourselves, but the Lord’s provision spills over for us, other people, and more leftover.
